Marilena has been a member of the Athens Bar Association since 2002. She brings over 20 years of legal experience across multiple practice areas, with a strong specialization in Data Protection Law in recent years. She is certified as a “DPO Executive” by TÜV AUSTRIA HELLAS.

Professional Background in Data Protection

Marilena has extensive and long-standing expertise in Personal Data Protection. Since 2018, she has been actively involved in GDPR compliance projects and has served as the Data Protection Officer of a major Educational Institution. In this role, she led the Institution’s initial GDPR compliance—coordinating both with its Greek operations and its Board in the United States—and subsequently oversaw the ongoing monitoring and support of data protection practices relating to the processing of personal data of more than 20,000 data subjects (including minors).

Experience in Other Areas of International and Domestic Law

She previously worked for nine years at an Athens-based Law Firm, handling civil, commercial, and labor law cases through the Litigation Department. She gained significant additional experience during a four-year collaboration and co-location of the firm with an international auditing company (one of the Big Four), operating within a multinational corporate environment and adhering to its internal procedures and compliance standards.

Marilena then joined the largest Educational Institution in Greece, where she served for nine years—initially as in-house legal counsel for three years and subsequently as the Institution’s Data Protection Officer.
